Pictou Island may be small, but we have wondrous sights!
Pictou island prides itself on its history! Check out one of its historic sites or the heritage building to learn more about how life was on the island. We have many gorgeous beaches, and each offers a unique characteristic to keep you coming back.re are many sights to see and lots of things to keep your day full.
The community has an abundance of community services. The community center has publicly available wi-fi. The Pictou Island Market offers island memorabilia and art made by locals. With so much to see, we also have a wide range of activities that people love to do while on the island.
Some things to keep in mind when you’re planning your Pictou Island visit:
- There is no public transportation on the Island and the sites are spread out, so include a bicycle in your ferry reservation ($), or rent one from the Wooden Tent Campground.
- John MacCallum Memorial Park is on the most eastern end of the island, off the main road - about 6km
- You can find a smalll map of the sites below
- There are public outhouses located at the Community Centre and the John MacCallum Park.
- There are no garbage receptacles, so please respect the environment and take your trash with you when you leave.
- Fires are prohibited given the limited resources available to the Pictou Island Fire Department.
- Bring all food and drinking water with you - there are no restaurants on the island.
- In case of emergency, call 911. Trained first responders are available.
- Please be aware of strong riptides when swimming and poison ivy when hiking
