The 2012 potluck sucessfully raised $490 to be donated to a mainland charity. It took place after the annual work party, where participants helped paint the community center.

Pictou Island residents officially presented members of the Northumberland Fisheries Museum board with an authentic ice boat built in the 1940s and used for winter transport for many years between the island and the mainland.

The museum will display the boat in the new pavilion that represents a future phase of construction beside the current lobster hatchery and lighthouse on Pictou's waterfront.
